hello,

well there is one Romanian historian, Lucian Boia, who i think is quite 
alternative in his views and criticisms (he is considered controversial 
as he doesn't try to protect national identity). his books focus mostly 
on myth, national identity, the myth of national identity, mostly around 
romania. his books have been translated to english and french, not sure 
about other languages, but he is publishing quite regularly on these 
topics.
