<P><BR>I think the funding issue is one of self-consciousness rather than self-righteousness. To accept the money is to enable something to happen, and to accept some level of control, even if we subvert other levels of control.</P>
<P>When I imagine a meeting in Berlin, it is different from imagining one in Ukraine. But if we do not have the means of organising one in Ukraine yet, but we can organise one in Berlin, then a real conference is better than a imaginary one . . . but this does not mean we should let these constraints kill our imagination, that we should internalise the values being promoted by the funders . . . so that one day maybe a Ukraine meeting can take place because we went ahead with Berlin . . .</P>
